Washington Wizards Logo- Worst Logo Design in NBA
March 2, 2009
If you mean serious business, you definitely mean serious logo design. Washington Wizards may not have understood this theory.
Washington Wizards logo displays a wizard conjuring a basketball with a quarter moon. First of all, there is no connection between wizards and Washington DC. Those who live in Washington sometimes ask the connection between the two, looking for symbols. Yes, there is nothing symbolic about the jumping wizard in basketball. The image of the half moon does not even symbolize anything. A creative design should not be sacrificed in terms of symbolism. What’s worst than having images not symbolizing anything at all?
Basketball means physical strength and stamina that is why it must be reasonable enough that most teams display animals as their team representations. The image of the wizard is just too vulnerable and weak to be an official logo design for NBA.
Looking at the Washington Wizards logo reminds me of Harry Potter or Merlin. The image doesn’t suggest a strong aura for the team and the fans. See how powerful logo designs can be?
It’s just that psychologically speaking, logo designs can influence teamwork and motivation. The stronger the symbolism of your logo design, the stronger is the motivation of the players to live up with the strong aura of the team.
This is a call to the Washington Wizards logo creator. Show some gratitude to the people of Washington.
